10 Tips for a Catered Maui Graduation Party

10 Tips for a Catered Maui Graduation Party

Graduation Party Maui.Celebrating a graduation on Maui and need to plan the party? It doesn’t matter if you are planning a Maui graduation party for a local Maui scholar or traveling to celebrate the accomplishment with a graduation party on Maui!

I want to help with tips to ensure your graduation party will be easy to plan and the special celebration of achievement you intend it to be. After you review these quick Maui graduation party planning tips, please leave questions in the comments area:

  1. Select a location for your graduation party – I recommend the beach club cabana at the Maui El Dorado for smaller graduation parties wanting oceanfront location. Larger graduation parties can be accommodated at Airport beach park in West Maui. Like all public parks on Maui, pavilions are not reserved for events. Instead, they are available via a first come first serve basis. Unless you are willing to arrive at 4 or 5 am to hold the pavilion area for your party, I recommend planning on rental chairs, tables and other party equipment rentals.
  2. To ensure your location will be available on the day of your graduation party on Maui, verify the location is available before selecting a date. If planning a catered graduation party, reserve as early as possible to ensure your caterer and location will be available for your graduation party. A deposit will be required to secure your reservation for caterers and some location venues. Securing your graduation party reservations as early as possible provides the most availability.
  3. Show your appreciation of the hard work your graduate invested by pulling out all the stops to reward your graduate with a full service multiple course gourmet plated dinner party. Assuming your college graduates are over 21 (HI liquor law), don’t forget to include cocktails and to make a champagne toast to the new graduate. Non-alcoholic beverage choices should be made available for those under age or who do not drink alcohol. Whatever you decide on for your graduation party, the key point is the college graduation is focused on your special graduate!
  4. Decide if your menu will be a full plated meal or pupu style (hors d’oeuvers). Decide if you would like a plated meal with each course served to your guests, a buffet menu or perhaps passed appetizers for shorter duration graduation parties.
  5. The beach is always a great place for a Maui graduation party and you won’t need to spend more to keep guests entertained. Add a catered Maui barbecue to the graduation party and your graduation party plan will be nearly complete!
  6. Consider food stations centered around the theme of your graduation party. Have a special theme in mind for your graduation party? Let us know and we’ll suggest catered menu ideas to match. Maybe a fiesta theme party with burrito and taco bars followed by a pinata breaking. Graduation parties with themed food stations could be centered around the year, the colors from the graduate’s school alma mater or the career field the college graduate has chosen. Our Seafood Festival theme party or popular Surf & Turf could be paired with almost any theme.
  7. Let your caterer know of any special dietary considerations as early as possible. We can accommodate gluten free and other special dietary requirements. We are most successful providing a menu variety when we are informed in advance allowing us to source appropriate ingredients and plan a catering menu meeting special dietary requirements.
  8. Don’t forget the tables, chairs, canopies or tents for your graduation party. Be sure your graduation party budget includes cost for tables, chairs and other catered equipment.
  9. Consider entertainment for your Maui graduation party. Live bands, DJs, magicians, photo booths, fire dancers and others will keep attendees entertained at your graduation party.
  10. Save money by self catering a graduation party. If you prefer, you may order your food in advance. CJs catering will prepare everything and it will be ready for pick up. You’ll need to serve your guests and return any equipment. Catered buffet chafing dishes and other catering equipment are available for rental on a first come first serve basis.

CJ’s Kaanapali Diner Review

My daughter and I visited Maui a couple of weeks ago and came to your restaurant 3 times. I just wanted to thank you for your willingness to meet our gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free requirements. We loved being able to eat out safely and wish we had a CJ’s at home! I just wrote you a stellar review on Trip Advisor. Hope you have a wonderful rest of the summer!

CJ’s Maui Restaurant Review

Wonderful for a Sunday Brunch since you can order breakfast until 11:00am! Had a ‘custom’ 3 ingredient omelette (I chose mushrooms, feta and spinach) with nicely crunchy on the outside and soft inside home potatoes, yummy. Hubby had the pancakes with fresh fruit! These are light fluffy slightly sweet batter pancakes, not those heavy bland ones (OK I admit it, I had to have a few bites of his breakfast…) Service was fast and friendly :0). The menu is EXTENSIVE, we live here and love it!

CJ’s Deli and Diner Maui Restaurant Review

Fact: CJ’s Maui onion soup will melt your face off it’s so good. Best I’ve ever had. It gets 20 stars.
Alas, it’s not on the menu every day… But when my fiancee and I went this past summer and were lucky to meet Chef CJ in person and mentioned that we had been thinking about the onion soup since the last time we visited two years earlier, he was kind enough to put it on the next day’s menu. We went back the following day and ordered it, and it was amazing, just as we had remembered. Another fact: the onion soup at CJ’s is better than the onion soup at Mama’s Fish House (and at like 1/4th of the price). Really. It’s that good. Part of me wants to reverse engineer CJ’s onion soup recipe, quit my job, and make millions selling onion soup to the mainland masses! (or: CJ, wanna make a deal?)
I think that the loco moco gravy is made from the same goodness. So that’s great too. The potato salad is tasty as well.
The to-go lunch plate is respectable.

Maui Chef CJ Prepares Mushroom Soup for Kaanapali Restaurant Guest

On a previous visit to Maui, I had the most delicious mushroom soup at CJ’s Deli and Diner in Kaanapali. When I arrived in Maui this week, I emailed the restaurant and asked what day they might have the soup. The owner and chef, Christian Jorgensen (CJ), promptly replied even though he was on vacation in Vegas. He gave me a number to call to check on the soup of the day. Then when he returned to Maui on Friday, he emailed me to let me know he would have the soup for me on Saturday. When I got there, he was so friendly and the soup was even more scrumptious than I had remembered. I really appreciated how valued he made me feel as a customer.

Good Morning, My wife and I spent last week in Maui. Your early bird special was the best. After we found you, we ate breakfast there every morning. You had two regular coffees that we just loved.

Aloha, We were in to see you many times during our stay last month in Ka’anapali, couple of things for you:
Need to order some more of your CJ’s roasted Kona Coffee. I see it’s not yet on your website, only the Maui Coffee Co. stuff. We ran out last weekend and are having withdrawls, please help!! Need 2 bags urgently!!
Secondly, your claim about having the best corned beef hash on the island. I think you’ve understated this because it’s the best I’ve had any where in the world! And that covers a lot of ground as I’ve been to every continent multiple times. Just the best anywhere, period!! Don’t suppose you would have that for delivery to Indiana would you? Maybe by the pound(s)?
Great people and even better food, Mahalo CJ’s. Seriously though, please let me know about that coffee. How do we get some ordered and shipped to Indiana?

CJ’s Deli & Diner Rocks! Been here several times while visiting Maui – each time we tried different meals and each time we LOVED the food, service and atmosphere. Only suggestion would be to provide regular dinner napkins along with this paper type – because we’re messy!
