Chef Christian Jorgensen of the Comfort Zone co-chaired (with Joann stockton) the 2010 Charity Auction for Sacred Hearts School in Lahaina Maui. Chef CJ organized and catered the Maui event. In previous years, the charity auction was combined with the popular Sacred Hearts Bazaar. Since parents of children attending the school were tasked with booth management at the Sacred Hearts bazaar, the charity auction had been less successful in prior years as focus was on the booths. Christian used his innovative event planning skills to enhance the revenue from this event. Over $58K dollars were collected for the school from the Maui fund raising event. Of the $58K, $10,000 was earmarked specifically toward the school’s technology program and were used to purchase new laptops. Chef Christian invited several other Maui chef’s to participate and they contributed to the overall success of the event. Musicians were called on entertain the guests at the event and George Kukuman and Uncle Wilmont performed. Guests enjoyed an iced martini bar, Polynesian Asian pupus (appetizers) and other tropical cocktails. The guests enjoyed a fun evening while contributing to the worthwhile cause.
